Regulation of Private Security:
The Government of India and Government of Karnataka has constituted the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act, 2005 and Karnataka Prive Security Agencies Rules, 2008 to regulate the business of Private Security Agencies. Accordingly, Govt. of Karnataka vide notification No. HD/274/SST/2010(P), dated 02.05.2012 and 21.05.2012 has appointed the Addl. Director General of Police, Internal Security Division, Bangalore as the Controlling Authority for Private Security Agencies in Karnataka.
Internal Security Division has been created by Government of Karnataka, vide order No. HD 208 POP 2008, dated 12.12.2008. This Division is headed by Additional Director General of Police. Created with an objective to collect Actionable Intelligence and carry out operations. To collect intelligence having a bearing on Anti-National and Subversive Activities like Terrorist Activity, Hawala, FICN, Narco Terrorism, Organised Crimes, having an internal security dimension. This specialized unit complements the jurisdiction and local police and does not compete with them. The Internal Security Division has following units.

6. Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF)
